How To Get Rid Of Heartburn Fast: Are you experiencing that burning sensation known as heartburn? Then you should know how it feels and how uncomfortable it can be. In my previous article, I explain some of the symptoms and causes of heartburn. In this article, I will explain how to get rid of heartburn fast so you can at least be free from those burning sensations. 

Some of the feelings you get from having heartburns are a slight hiccup and a burning sensation in the throat and chest. Usually, these are caused by what we eat, things like acidic foods, fatty food, and spicy foods. It can also be caused by GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), a chronic condition. Over-the-counter medication

You can also take over-the-counter medication to help get rid of heartburn fast. Medications such as antacids, H2 blockers, and proton pump inhibitors. They help reduce and neutralize stomach acid. 

Taking supplements like licorice 

The supplement is known as deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL). This supplement contains processed licorice but without glycyrrhizin because of its side effects. 

Try Licorice root as another remedy for heartburn, as it helps to increase the mucous coating found in the esophageal lining. This protects the throat from stomach acid damage. Avoid consuming much Licorice ale that’s been processed can raise your blood pressure, affect any medication you take, or lower your body’s potassium levels.

Chewing gum

According to research, chewing gum some minutes after a meal can also help. This helps to stimulate your saliva and swallowing and helps dilute the stomach acid and clear your throat.

Drinking water mixed with baking soda.

Baking soda has numerous benefits; one of the benefits of baking soda is that it helps to calm the burning sensation of heartburn. What it does is neutralizes the acid in the stomach. 

How to make: Get a teaspoon of baking soda, add it to a glass of water, let it dissolve, stir well, then drink it gradually, no rush. 

Usually, when you have heartburn, you are supposed to eat or drink everything gently or slowly; trying to drink fast, maybe because of the burning sensation, could elevate the pain.

Wearing an extricated attire 

As explained earlier, heartburn happens when the stomach’s substance ascends into your throat, where stomach acids can consume the tissue. Wearing something tight can also cause your belly to compress, which can cause heartburn. 

To avoid this, wear loose clothing, avoid tightening your waist belt, and anything that keeps your body tight, like jeans. 

 Upright standing 

Do you know bad posture can also cause heartburn? Whether sitting or lying down, try standing and getting some movement. While you are at it, try straightening up or standing straight. 

This will help your posture and also help put less pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter. This helps the muscle found in the throat stop the stomach acid from rising. 

 Keeping your upper body elevated

Do you know that lying can make heartburn feel worse? Always raise the upper body area of your bed. Otherwise, you can add more pillows under the upper side of the bed where your upper body will rest. Adding pillows to raise the head isn’t enough; your whole body, from the waist to the top, is the target.

Most people use an adjustable bed to keep their uppers raised while sleeping. These adjustable beds can be adjusted to meet your body’s perfect lifting requirement. Another option is to use a wedge pillow if you don’t have an adjustable bed.

Using ginger

Ginger has unlimited uses, so many benefits for the human body and can help save someone from heartburn. Most people take ginger tea every morning, while others eat ginger roots every time they cough. 

There are many ways to consume ginger for heartburn; grated or diced ginger root will be a good option once added to your food or as a recipe. Also, adding dried ginger root to boiling water and drinking it as tea can help. It is advised not to use ginger ale as this could trigger heartburn instead of eliminating it.

Taking apple cider vinegar

Using apple cider vinegar as a remedy for heartburn can reduce stomach acid. This must be diluted with water and usually after a meal to help reduce heartburn. This may not work for everybody, and its potency hasn’t been tested, but most people believe it does help.

Stop smoking

Smoking also affects heartburn; stopping smoking can help reduce that burning feeling of heartburn. Smoking, as we know it is dangerous to health, not only heartburn, smoking has other bad effects on the body which can contribute to heartburn.

Conclusion

Remember changing tight clothes, avoiding smoking, chewing gum, taking apple cider vinegar, taking licorice supplements, avoiding spicy food, sleeping on an elevated bed, and the counter medication. All this can help you if you want to get rid of heartburn fast at home.
